Give homemade or store-bought broth a little extra flavor with this simple recipe. The broth can be refrigerated up to 3 days or frozen for several months.

Ingredients

Olive oil

1 tsp

Uncooked onion

½ small, diced

Garlic

1 clove(s), crushed with side of a knife

Reduced sodium chicken broth

4 cup(s), or vegetable broth (store-bought or homemade)

Bay leaf

1 leaf/leaves, optional

Table salt

1 pinch(es), or to taste

Black pepper

1 pinch(es), or to taste

Instructions

Heat oil in medium saucepan over medium heat. Add onion and garlic and cook, stirring, until onion softens, about 3 minutes. Add broth and bay leaf (if using). Bring to boil over high heat. Reduce heat and simmer a few minutes. Discard bay leaf. Season to taste with optional salt and pepper.
